Coloured pencil classes

Queenscliff – Term 1 2025

A new venue has been secured in the charming seaside town of Queenscliff at the QHub Auditorium, 49-55 Hesse Street Queenscliff. Our thanks go to the local council for enabling us to secure this excellent learning space, making the course available to the community.

The class on offer will be Botanical Drawing I and II which will include drawing in coloured pencil and graphite. Class dates and times are as follows:

Class dates: 6, 20 February; 6, 20 March; 3 April

Class times: 10am-3.30pm with 30 mins for lunch

Course costs

There are three subscription tiers available. Choose the one that best aligns with your expectations for the course. If you’d like to learn more before enrolling, feel free to reach out to us through the form on the Contact page.

Tier 1 – Classroom Learning

Tier 1 is the entry-level option for this course. Students will receive one on one feedback and instruction in a classroom setting throughout the duration of the course, and manage their own notetaking.

As part of this tier, the following materials will be provided:

  • Drawing subjects
  • ‘Helping hands’ stands for subjects
  • White foamcore boards as backdrops for botanical subjects
  • Drawing boards

Tier 2 – Classroom Learning + Class Notes

Tier 2 includes everything offered in Tier 1, plus summarised class notes. These notes include:

  • Step by step outline of how to create current subject in graphite or coloured pencil
  • Images of the drawings by Amanda at different stages of development

Tier 3 – Classroom Learning + Class Notes + Email Feedback

Tier 3 includes everything offered in Tiers 1 and 2, along with personalised feedback provided via email after each class. This feedback will include:

  • Written observations on the current subject
  • Suggestions for further development
  • Progress reviews and homework recommendations

Botanical Drawing with Coloured Pencil I

Mondays 6pm-8pm online

Starting date of term: Monday 10 February 2025
Finishing date of term: Monday 7 April 2025
(Note: there are no classes on Monday 10 March – Labour Day)

This class will be presented each week Online via Zoom and is a beginners level.

This is an introductory coloured pencil course where you will gain increased confidence in drawing from life and a basic understanding of coloured pencil techniques such as layering and colour mixing.  Several exercises in coloured pencil and at least one fully rendered coloured pencil drawing will be completed.
