Designed for both beginners and continuing students, this course explores the fundamentals of coloured pencil techniques in a friendly, supportive environment. Learn how to create form, tone and depth while developing the skills to capture the beauty of botanical subjects with confidence.

Queenscliff – Term 3 2026
Botanical Drawing with Coloured Pencil and Graphite
Term 2 is drawing to a close, and students have been working on gumnuts—not the familiar dried brown forms, but the fresh green and red gumnuts of autumn. Their coloured pencil studies are looking beautifully accomplished, capturing the subtle colour variations and intricate details of these fascinating subjects. The graphite works are equally impressive, highlighting the elegant forms and textures of the gumnuts through careful observation and tonal drawing.
Term 3 promises to be just as engaging, with a focus on orchids, particularly the moth orchid (Phalaenopsis), renowned for its spectacular colours, markings, and graceful forms. Classes will continue at the QHub Auditorium in the Information Centre, 49–55 Hesse Street, Queenscliff.
The class on offer will again be Botanical Drawing, with students able to choose either coloured pencil or graphite as their preferred medium, all within a friendly, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.
Class dates: 16, 30 July; 13, 27 August; 10 September
